The St. Lucia Animal Protection Society (SLAPS) is a registered non-profit organization. SLAPS was established in 1998 and we continue to be the only officially recognized animal welfare group in St. Lucia.
Our mission statement is “Working for Animal Welfare”, and to this end, we have formed some valuable partnerships within the community.
With the help of the media, we try to inform and educate with radio/T.V. interviews and newspaper articles.
Several of the island’s vets help us with rescued animals which need to be spayed, neutered or treated before being re-homed. International vets from different countries have volunteered in the past for free spay and neuter clinics.
We produce a blog and regular newsletters to keep our membership up to date with our progress.
We do not, at the moment, have a dedicated shelter and rely on members and supporters to foster animals in their own homes until they are healthy enough to be adopted into a loving home.
