St Lucia Animal Protection Society (SLAPS) is a registered non-profit organization established in 1998.
Our mission is ‘Working for Animal Welfare’, to care for the sick/injured and the vulnerable. With the help of local vets, media we try to inform and educate the importance of spay/neutering animals to reduce the overwhelming population of stray animals and how to care/treat and look after animals properly.
In 2016 we found some premises to rent where we've been able to set up a surgery, enabling us to employ a local vet on a daily basis to spay/neuter animals. This is much more cost effective than paying for each animal individually at the vets and giving us the opportunity to neuter more. We can also now take advantage of the offers we receive from overseas vets who wish to come and help our cause.
